working as a nurse, not really without going back into the trenches and dealing w/shit/piss/sputum/pus/bile etc. and long commutes.
I've been a nurse for 15 years now and do more behind the scenes medical management, which despite the volume of work is worth it's weight in gold as far as mental health burden goes so it's easier for be to bite the bullet than give one to a patient (giving them the bullet is a colloqual nursing term for a suppository to induce violent diarrhea)

i hate my !codercels job and have been thinking about nursing.
i could prolly do it, but i'd prolly also feel like my talents are wasted.
i like coding, i just hate the way we manage it, as it fricks things up to the tune several orders of magnitude extra code, making it impossible to really build the software we deserve.

Yeah about 99% of nurses are basically tech illiterate so just knowing how to build a computer makes you look like a genius from tech perspective.
You must remember that the majority of communications done in the US healthcare system are done so over fax still.

that's because the way we manage the production of software makes us organizationally incapable of rectifying this.
i want to tear my eyeballs out everytime i need to do anything in regards to passing around doctors orders between medical organizations + insurance.
just last month some doctor faxed my name wrong to another doctor ... and this fricked up a subsequent lab order so i needed to go back and forth a couple times to fix that up. like holy frick how is this still happening in year 2025???
god i want to address this to badly.
no clue how to kickstart the effort.
