having worked with American union-cels, the real situation is probably that a unionized employee started the fire either by setting it or being a lazy jack off, the fire did nothing, the building is totally safe, and 200 other unionoids are just looking for any excuse to not do work

If they’re truly skilled, the employer will provide better working conditions. Unions 100% violate the right of the employer to monitor what goes on between employees. Why should the employees be allowed to conspire in private? Or even strike, possibly ruining the business?

I prefer houses built with unionized laborers instead of the shoddy bullshit that non-union construction companies make. There's a big difference in quality.

The developer has a set budget. Union labor means they're paying twice as much for the labor so a bunch of slobs can take 5-hour breaks.
I was at a site where we were working alongside a union contractor, same trade. They kept telling us to unionize. "You'll make so much more money!"
We're driving nicer, newer cars and trucks. They're all in POS Pontiacs and old Hondas. The "nicest newest" car amongst them was a base Trax. That extra money must be going to union dues or something.
I'm making good money, new company truck, medical, dental, 401k, 401a, gainshare, 6 weeks pto, disability, management actually listens to me... What can the union possibly offer besides an elitist attitude?
We have to have a fleet of unmarked trucks because some union boys are such cute twinks about it, they will harass us at gas stations or vandalize our trucks. Grown-butt men getting that butthurt in current year because you aren't paying to be in their lemonparty.
Unions had their place in the 1920s, but we have modern labor laws now that supercede the need for most unions

Okay? Where I live the union electricians, construction workers, and plumbers all make more than nonunion. The nonunion workers are all immigrants. The union workers are all legal or US citizens.

You think residential construction anywhere is built with unionized labor? There are some big commercial developers who are unionized, but the residential developers are subcontracting to dozens of even smaller firms. I had a house built and I'm pretty sure none of the Mexicans who built it were unionized.
I mean, the best quality is always custom builds done by reputable general contractors who keep a tight leash on their subs, but yeah, you can't have that in big developments and the quality of large homebuilders is absolute trash

Unions should only be allowed for skilled, hourly labor.

Unions should never be allowed. Why does the employer have to let his employees talk to one another outside of work?

I just want skilled laborers to have safe working conditions. It's best for everyone that way.

Abolish at will laws, raise wages, more paid vacation and sick leave, protection from arbitrary management/ownership retaliation.
