In the US Army, this is considered a very bad idea. We were trained to never use abandoned materiel or ammunition. Call it in, mark it, disable it if need be, and keep advancing, leaving it to support logistics guys to handle. Simple reason is that sabotaging stuff is really easy, and we don't want stuff killing us when we try to use it.
I know certain alphabet groups had a habit of doing exactly this. Saw a bunch of 40mm grenades once in the sandbox we were told to not use; evidently some glowies were going to plant them for ISIS to find and blow themselves up with.
