Protester who glued himself to the VW museum didn't even last a day because his hand hurt

His main demand was to get VW to introduce a lower speed limit in Germany somehow :marseyxd:

Just look at this horribly swollen hand, it's incredible he lasted as long as he did

Thread from yesterday about wanting VW to give them potties

He also keeps calling then 'Wolkswagen' for some reason I can't understand, the V is right there in the name and the badge, he even @s VW, it's hard to miss

How would a lower speed limit help climate change? Most cars have better fuel efficiency at higher speeds per trip. If he got what he wanted and made everyone crawl to their jobs at 20mph like pensioners then everyone would take longer AND produce more emissions

The problem is that wind drag is an exponential function. It's heavily car dependent. Burger cars are usually a lot heavier who needs bigger engines, means their peak efficiency speed (while being inefficient bricks) should be way higher than that of euro cars.

An example of a small car with different engines

Average engine power for German cars in 2020 was 117kW. So around 100km/h should be the most efficient cruise speed

Oh darn nice, I learned something today

Tbf to them they were after a 100km/h speed limit which is supposedly around the most efficient speed for most cars. I don't know if that still works for electric cars though

It was probably true back in the 80s when you were driving a K-car with a three-speed column shift, but I'm sure modern cars with fuel management and 10-speed :!marseytrain:s are geared to do better at interstate speeds.

Since electric cars lack any real gearing, it could be true that slower is better, but inertia may benefit higher speeds

Wind drag increases with the square of speed. Drag and wheel slippage are the two main factors at play in an electric car so slower is significantly better for electric car efficiency.

Going over the optimal speed of 55mph means you’re literally killing the planet, chud.
