An elite national army unit has announced it has seized power in Guinea and deposed the country’s president, Alpha Condé, in an attempted coup, after heavy gunfire was heard near the presidential palace in the capital, Conakry, on Sunday morning.

The army is usually like the 4th branch in these types of countries.

So they weren't getting bribed enough to keep towing the line.

Also why "elite" units get trained and then all the members scattered to the 4 corners of the country so they can't group up and coup.
