Aside from the fact that the father of libertardianism Milton Friedman had very close relations with the Pinochet regime that ruined the Chilean middle and lower classes most their "solutions" have also been enforced repeatedly to any country that had the bad luck to do business with the IMF cucks. Destroying the social safety net, selling off the country/government to corporations, lowering pensions, firing civil servants, austerity in general, even lowering taxes for the rich and their corporations are standard IMF practices. Afterall neoliberalism is the "humane" version of libertardianism with better PR backing it
Destroying the social safety net, selling off the country/government to corporations, lowering pensions, firing civil servants, austerity in general, even lowering taxes for the rich and their corporations
regime that ruined the Chilean middle and lower classes
If that's true then how come that Chile has a robust middle class and is much closer to developed countries when compared with their r-slurred neighbors who fell for populist tales?
Afterall neoliberalism is the "humane" version of libertardianism with better PR backing it
Yes but you speak as if they were a rich country in the 1970s which they weren't, 1970 Chile was extremely poor and the ConcertaciΓ³n governments after democratization kept most of the economic policies implemented in the 80s, the 90s were the big decade of growth for Chile.
That was extreme poverty (literally People who couldn't even afford food or any basic needs, total destitution) not general poverty. Extreme poverty in 1990 was 13%, people forget 1970s LATAM was similar to current Africa in terms of social indicators, Argentina, Uruguay and Southeast/South Brazil being the exceptions

I predict that in 2-3 years you'll be making excuses saying that he didn't free the market hard enough or didn't reduce the government enough and that's why Argentinians are poorer and pissed off. Does the site have a reminder, it's gonna be funny

The Red Line podcast tried to do an episode about this today but it was really boring because everyone just said Argentina no longer has any military power.
Which is pretty amazing when you think about it. In 1982 they came very close to winning a war against Britain and now they're no threat.
On the other hand they've got no carriers and the British at least keep a few planes down there today. If they fought each other now it would basically be a bumfight.

This is what I've heard from British guys who were involved. If a few more exocet missiles had hit it would have all been off. Iirc where it really came close is they were down to one ship left that had CH-47s (which they so charmingly call the "chin ook" because they can't pronounce anything the French way !pnw) and if that one got hit they would have had to abort the whole operation.
The public perception of this stuff reminds me of Mitsuo Fuchida talking about the old timers in the Japanese navy. They tried to explain to the kids that when they fought the Chinese and Russians it wasn't easy like propaganda suggested. They were really lucky and a few shells landing in a different place would have meant a totally different outcome. But the zoomers didn't listen and started ww2 and ultimately are responsible for anime.
I suppose you could make the assumption that the UK would just back down but I think that's unlikely. It's possible they would have involved their allies more. There were actual British people living on the Falklands and they wanted to remain w/ the UK after all.
So he did more in a couple weeks than Trump did in 4 years? Not surprising, but I would also not be surprised if he got assassinated by some guy who got laid off as part of his reforms or by some deep state type who does not want the profitable boat to get rocked.
The biggest part of socialism and communism is you and all your party friends get to sit and do nothing and collect all of the money and goods while the working class becomes too poor to fight back. This guy just made lifelong violent enemies who believe they are the good guys and by any means necessary.
