I remember people being treated like lunatics and racists for suggesting this even though the lab is a 5 minute walk away from the market, and it's all happening within China of all places. (; ̄ Д ̄) All because it might give Trump(ﷻ) political points. ಠ╭╮ಠ

Whats crazy is that while that was happening Taiwan Singapore, and Japan news were all pointing to a lab leak. The main reason that they wanted to throw people off the lab leak theory is that the COViD virus was likely the result of gain of function research, that was illegal in the US, butt that the NIH was funding to take place at the lab in Wuhan. The main purpose of denying the lab leak was to hide big pharma and the US government's reckless role in creating the pandemic. As per the video above, Moderna literally owns a patent on DNA strands found in the COVID 19 virus. Moderna admits this

Its a whole plotline.
Its hazy to me now but, iirc
trump says wuhan virus lab leak theory is credible and then something about WHO glazing china's peepee. Left says racist conspiracy, it's animal origin only and calling it wuhan/china virus is promoting asian hate and violence against them which spawns the "stop asian hate" movement, people quickly realize exactly who is attacking asians and the movement dies out overnight

I remember hearing the "rise of asian hate movement" stuff on NPR and it ended up being like one case in California and everything else was just twittoids "feeling" oppressed without any concrete reasons why

There were plenty of cases of anti-asian hate attacks, its just that the broad majority of cases the attackers werent demographically capable of racial hatred/racism so they couldnt report on them.

By the way, the most interesting part of this statement is the "We declare no competing interests." at the end, given that one of the listed authors, Peter Daszak, is the president of Eco Health Alliance nonprofit that used NIH money to fund coronavirus research in Wuhan Institute of Virology. Needless to say, nothing bad whatsoever happened to him or anyone else involved.

Not only was he funding Covid research in China, Peter Daszak's EcoHealth Alliance literally sent a formal proposal to DARPA and then the NIH for funding a gain of research project for corona viruses. Both of which were rejected by the US for being too dangerous.
But it's assumed that after the NIH declined the proposal they sent EcoHealth Alliance to poke China about it since it wasn't illegal there.

Another fun moment was when he was the only US representative in the WHO commission that went to the WIV and "investigated" stuff, then after he returned, in an interview he was asked if they managed to get access to the WIV coronavirus database that was taken offline immediately after the beginning of the epidemic "because what if hackers", and he was, like, no, why, we basically know what's there anyway, it's all good.

It's hilarious that suggesting the Chinese created the virus in a lab for typical research, and had a leak, is somehow considered racist. Instead the morally correct opinion is that those dirty zipperheads are so filthy they eat contaminated bats raw in a wealthy, major metropolitan city.
Jump in the discussion.

Not just that, but that a lab acknowledged to be researching the exact kind of virus that covid was and doing research aimed at making it more infectious to boot, was the source of the outbreak of a highly infectious virus with signs of alteration in its genome was clearly racist. Obviously they're just so backwards they eat raw wild bat.

Literally the only implication of the lab leak theory is that the researchers failed to follow laboratory safety and contamination standards and they were studying a disease they found/created (like what a disease research lab is supposed to do), like a midnight patrol guard falling asleep on the job. The fact that employees ignoring safety standards and regulations is considered a conspiracy theory rather than a realistic possibility makes me want to put all the "trust science" people in a camp.

Not impossible but it would be pretty tarded to make a biological weapon that can spread back to your own population. Generally biological weapons are stuff like anthrax that doesn't spread from person to person.

Depends on your goal. If your goal is reducing the human population to 500k, you don't really care where it spreads to.
