environmental experts worry it's a solution that will come too late – and that allowed us to forgo the difficult work of rethinking our relationship with meat and agriculture
Is it any wonder meat and climate change are political, when '''environmental experts''' are transparently using it to push their worldview? To the point they worry about a technical fix, since that would take away their casus belli?
Climate change is obviously real but the idea that the conclusions of the expert class are somehow entirely rational and devoid of ideological capture is something only the most insane ideologue could believe.
Pants on head r-slurred. The "pro-business" party hamstringing another business to protect shitfarmers for votes. No different than the student loan forgiveness for progressoids. The chuds will cheer about the steaks they can't afford, the soys will cry about the meat they won't eat. I just want to grill one up and see what I like better like a real American.
I've always considered the people in Star Trek who turn their nose up at replicated food r-slurred. It's literally the same food but made perfectly, molecule by molecule. Heck, you can ask the machine to give you a different variation/concentration of spice to get a more "authentic" feel.

I still dont fricking understand how its possible to create meat using less overall energy than bonking a cow on the head.
Cows: field, a few ranchers.
Labmeat: sterile climate controlled facility, with 100 employees (support staff is larger than you think).
legislation that would ban the production or sale of cell-cultivated meat, despite the fact that cell-cultivated meat isn't actually on sale anywhere in the country. But experts say these new laws sweeping red states aren't so much about the many safety, ethical and environmental questions lab-grown meat pose – they're about the culture wars.
Although more than 150 companies are now working in the cell-cultivated meat industry worldwide, it's not yet widely available to the public: Only two restaurants in the US have sold cultivated meat. In 2023, restaurants in San Francisco and Washington DC sold cell-cultivated chickens developed by Upside Foods and Good Meat – but those products are no longer available at either restaurant.
Ubiecute/twink It's okay, bb. It's only the internet.

But experts say these new laws sweeping red states aren't so much about the fricking many safety, ethical and environmental questions lab-grown meat pose – they're about the fricking culture wars.
“These are fricking political efforts to rile up voters,” says Sparsha Saha, a fricking lecturer on meat politics at Harvard, who notes that cell-cultivated meat is a fricking long way away from being produced on scale to reach most consumers. “Meat is fricking inherently political. We know that meat attachment is fricking higher on the fricking right. We know that masculinity norms tend to be stronger among conservative men – and meat is fricking associated with masculinity …
With every year, leftoids sound more like conspiracy theorists.
>Republicans are fricking trying to ban lab meat
>1 State might do it; three others range from "some guy discussing it" to "having a fricking bill about it
>and and and it's not even sold in the fricking US yet [how is this a fricking good point?]
>and they want to ban it because culture wars !!!
Or they don't want dumb people eating experimental food.
I swear they've become the fricking Alex Jones' of this world.

This is EXACTLY the stage we were at with 'bathroom bills' for
in 2015. It's not happening, why do you need a law?
