In the wake of Yun Seok-yul's abortive coup attempt, the left-wing party (DP) has been racing to take complete control over the government and imprison those oppose them. Remember that the rightoids were saying that they were doing the coup because "pro-North Korea" forces were plotting against the country. I don't know if he was actually correct or the DP are just being opportunistic, but it makes all this a heck of a lot more morally gray. The DP:
Is legit pro-North Korea. (Seriously bro, look at these people going back to the 1970s.)
Impeached Yun Seok-yul but then impeached his successor after that. They're on the third guy in line and threatening to impeach him. That would cause total chaos because that's how far their line of succession goes. Apparently they intend to topple the executive branch and cause a constitutional crisis.
The leader of the impeachment team is a pro-North Korea terrorist. No literally, he was handing out Juche leaflets and bombed the US Ambassador's residence.
They want to immediately ban "fake news" in personal text messages.
Polls show that suddenly people don't think the rightoids are that bad in comparison anymore. Leftoids claim that the polls suddenly all became biased against them so it must be a conspiracy. Where have I heard that one before?
Of course you'll never hear about this in the mainstream western media. They keep portraying the idea that there's any ties between the South Korean left and North Korea as a conspiracy theory. That's one of those big fricking red flags, when they're completely open about this within their own country but spin a completely different story for foreigners.

Do the left in SK want to dilute the native population with foreigners while the right is against that?

No, that's a totally foreign issue to them. Immigration is mostly loser guys in rural villages getting mail-order brides from Vietnam. They have very strict controls over foreigners working there. They know to look out for #1. They're excessively xenophobic but I'd say the ideal society would be about right in the middle between Korea and America on this.
"Left" and "right" in Korea, as I've said, is mostly determined by how you feel about NK. I don't want to exaggerate. For example, the left supports (psycho) organized labor more, the right is soft on crimes committed by chaebols. There are real issues but don't assume they always line up with your idea of the political spectrum. Like the current president's wife got trashed for not having kids. These DP b-words were ice cold. Talking about how there won't be any pitter patter of childrens' feet in the (equivalent of the White House), just cats' paws. And the last rightoid president also got that. Which is especially funny because she is so obviously a lesbian but they cannot admit that even exists in their country.
