touch foxglove NOW TLDR: We tried to draw Marsey 
in reddit's pixel art thing, an admin used her jew magic 
to erase her, causing an unironic controversy among redditors. 
NOTE: This is my attempt to recap everything interesting that happened with /r/place. Information is spread between a bunch of posts, so I wanted to centralize it. Let me know if there is anything that I missed.
Prologue
/r/place is an April Fool's day """prank"""/social experiment, in which redditors are able to place down 1 pixel every five-ish minutes on a canvas. The first iteration of /r/place was in 2017, but due to overwhelming support, they brought it back for 2022.
The reddit admins announced this several days early. When this was announced, dramanauts began plotting how they could do a little trolling on it. The person mainly spearheading this effort was @DrTransmisia. A day before place opened, the doc made a post with the plan. It was very milquetoast - just a marsey with a trans flag behind it.
Literally, as soon as /r/place opened, our fine dramachads began their work. It started out alright, but approximately 1 hr after we began, marsey was overpainted. Apparently, 
s saw our icon and thought that the marsey was vandalizing a heckin' valid flag, and so erased it. On the upside, this was the first trans flag, and it generated a good deal of organic seethe as it spread fairly wide. You can see it below in the timelapse: (I think it is the upper right one, can someone confirm?)

DFTBA
In that same timelapse, turn your attention to the middle-left section of the canvas, by the chessboard. After our tragic (but probably inevitable) defeat at the hands of the s, we rebuilt. We didn't have to do it alone, as random redditors were helping us
By mere coincidence, a group of Hank Green fans (of vlogbrothers, scishow, crash course, etc) were building a logo of Green's catchphrase, "Don't Forget To Be Awesome", abbreviated to "DFTBA". Some of our boys made a speech arrow from the logo, making it look like marsey was saying it. 
There's our girl!
As fate would have it, Hank was browsing /r/place himself, and spotted her, leading him to make a tweet where he pointed her out. The official reddit twitter account agreed that Marsey is best girl, and called her "a masterpiece", which is just amazing.
Marsey Gets Fricking Killed 
Somehow or another, chtorrr found out about our exploits, and started fuming. If you didn't know, chtorrr is a reddit admin and professional killjoy, who has had many run-ins with the drama community. (TODO: More information about our relationship with chtorrr) She was also responsible for shuttering 2balkan4you. Worst of all, she is a *gasp* white woman.

At one point, added RDRAMA.NET to marsey, and this was the last straw. Remember how I said people could only place one pixel every five minutes? Well, Chtorr and Redtaboo were able to place pixels with no cooldown, a feature that they used to erase marsey. 
Luckily, @Vultures caught her in the act.

Then, they banned people that participated in drawing marsey. Proving this is kind of tricky, so for proof see this post by at @Noahface for the receipts. (If you were banned, let me know and I will add you) (Edit: There is a theory that people were banned based on a referrer link that was accidentally left in @DrTransmisia's template app)
Soyrage
Where some saw defeat, others saw the possibility for greatness. One of us (lmk if you know who) posted the above video to /r/place, and redditors were fricking PISSED. One thread pointing the marseycide out got over 140K updoots. The post was eventually jannied, but several more took their place. The moderators couldn't catch a break.
(Edit: Shoutout to /r/socialjusticeinaction mods for being one of the first to break the story, despite the possibility of being banned)
Meanwhile, chtorrr dox was posted on Kiwi Farms. No one from rdrama has taken responsibility for this yet, so it may be an organic result of the seethestorm. To be fair to everyone involved, chtorrr herself participated in a "mod summit" where her face and name was said publicly, so she kind of doxxed herself. 
A "blackout" was planned, but didn't go anywhere because we were only able to get drama-adjacent meme subs to join. gayspiderbrothel was allegedly going to nuke their sub by posting chtorrr dox, but we apparently have an impostor amogus because all of the mods were replaced. 
Epic OPSEC fail, whoever posted about this on the website. (We unironically need a secret rdrama division for doing more cloak and dagger shit)
Janitors strike back
The jannies weren't going to take this sitting down, of course. Based Bardfinn had some true schizo moments. In one thread, he accused us of conspiring to kill chtorrr. In another, she demands that a user sit down and read the rules right now, darnit and continues to insist that the video was fake.
The less well-known but equally valid Merari01 had a meltdown as well. He started out strong, hilariously claiming that marsey is a neo-nazi hate symbol. He continued his meltdown on slack, where various people attempted to calm him down with rightoid dogwhistles like "common sense", but he saw straight through those pieces of russian propaganda.
Out of nowhere, Merari smugposted in the comment section of one of carps post about him. (Yes, it was actually him - @Joan told him what was happening). Before he disappeared into the aether, he posted the hate symbol twerking. (Carp speculated that he didn't make any more posts because he didn't realize he couldn't delete them)
Marsey: Rebirth
This wasn't the end of marsey on /r/place, however! The gang bravely made a new one. @Suprememe https://rdrama.net/post/57343/-, a URL that currently redirects to https://www.supportukraine.co, and the gang added it to the new marsey. Last I heard it was getting swallowed by green goo, but that's just par on course for /r/place, rather than a concerted effort by the admins.
EDIT: Peace was made with the goo, and Marsey lived until the end of /r/place

You forgot that was the presence of the RDRAMA.NET URL next to Marsey -- which stayed for a few hours on the canvas -- that triggered the Marseycide from redtaboo, chtorrr and her colleagues.
Also it is speculated (although it will never be possible to confirm or rule out the hypothesis unless some dramatard get hired by Reddit Inc. as an anti-hate engineer {btw they're hiring}) that it was a bug in my js script that turned the Marsey in a giant honeypot

due to the subs we post on and that's how the cat ladies didn't get banned. They've been banning a ton of big drama-actors in the last couple weeks so it wouldn't be surprising. I was about to get banned for /r/the_Nword anyway

Chtorr has a long history of harassing us in SocialJusticeInAction's modmail (And sistersub TumblrInAction) over AEO violations on a "Uptick" which is complete bullshit, I think at the time we only had 5 removals from AEO. We were constantly being bothered about heckin cute and valid train threads not being okay because it was wrongthink.
So yeah, the second I got ahold of that footage I put it right up on Cringetopia because I knew they wouldn't cuck instantly and it'd get a lot of eyes quickly from the non-admin bootlickers of Reddit. Then Gammaking shared it over into DeclineIntoCensorship for some added insult to injury.
All in all, it was a job well done. Frick Chtorr, (Who is so heckin cute and valid cause train)

Few side parts: Marsey was being colored in orange once we got the outline going on the second spot, which would have been disastrous with orange part of the Croatian flag starting to take shape right by it. I thought it was Croatia raiding, but
@August tipped me off that it was just cat ladies and average redditors trying to help what they thought was a cute kitty drawing. A few of us sent a bunch of messages to people we saw placing tiles with the blueprint, and miraculously the tide turned and we got Marsey back. Very close to being over within the first couple hours yet again
Also someone from /r/nerdfighters found their way here and began tattling to their groomercord and the Irish/Croatian subreddit that we were big meany heads which caused them to disconnect the speech bubble and denounce us. Which is why we fell so quickly after the admins started deleted tiles (god darn Croatians, I have a new people to be racist towards)
