i mean it is, but 2112 has some good songs and permanent waves was good too. they were surpisingly good when i saw them live

also Pretty hate Machine and With Teeth are the best NIN albums

I always thought of Downward Spiral as being the basic b-word album because of Closer going mainstream. All the pop idiots were gushing over how much they suddenly loved NIN and pretended they had deep thoughts for like 6 months.

TDS would probably be the basic b-word answer, but it’s also their best album by a country mile. The textures on that album STILL sound like something that could be released today and not sound dated.
