If you don't immediately throw anything labelled as an "update" into your system, without stopping to test it or even to wait for someone else to test it, you're considered a looney in the tech world

Tho in this case I don't think CloudStrike even offered an "accept", they just pushed a new bit of "content" (they're not calling it an "update") out to everyone everywhere all at once, and their own client software took it automatically

That's a good point. I woulda said after Equifax and their servers having a 3 month old vulnerability. I've seen a huge push myself for auto-updates to stay compliant and avoid vulnerabilities, but having the resources to test is costly. I feel bad for the ITcels dealing with it and nobody wants to give them a budget for testing.
IT is generally a cost that everyone hates and continually shits on them for being something that just costs businesses money unlike other departments that make them money. Nobody respects their hustle until shit like this happens and they need them to help.

From what I could tell you cant even turn off automatic updates for cloud strike it always automatically patches security stuff.
