I don't want to get in the weeds about it but the general line of thought among non-hobbyists is that it is an alright plane that though inferior to the F22 or F35 is significantly superior to Euro planes. It has seen extensive use in Ukraine as suggested by missiles only it can use, and it's biggest pitfall is it's low production numbers due to Russia's economy.
Russians really love r-slurred military colour schemes. Until recently the decks of all their warships had only the red anti-rust paint (which normal navies paint over), because who needs camouflage when you have a dumb tradition?
Also, WTF is this supposed to camouflage you from?
I like the red decks (not as good as US warships with teak on them, like old battleships and aircraft carriers). Camo is dumb for a Navy, looking cool should be more important
Honestly not bad. It's practical, sailors used to wear work blues with dungarees, there's history there. It's better than wearing blue camo fatigues cut for field use when you are doing boat things.
I unironically love the Mig-21. It's so shitty but also weirdly great in that it's technically a mach-2 interceptor but built as cheaply as possible. Kind of like those weird economy muscle car builds from the late 60s where you'd order a piece of shit Chevy Nova with a 350 and posi rear end
They don't know exactly how much they cost, but estimates are in today's money that during the peak production run of Mig-21s in the late 60s the Soviets were churning them out for under $1mil a piece in today's money. Insanely affordable.
Which is good because they have an overall losing k/d and basically just got annihilated in every conflict they participated in
The Mig has cozy Slav vibes. The completely worthless RWR doesn't bother you with radar pings until you are seconds from death, and the ashtray is handy for when you get to smoke a relaxing cigarette while listening to sad acoustic music on your way to fire unguided rockets into a refugee camp
How dose that work in peer situation. When f35 and russian plane had their peepee swingging contest some time ago. Pilot remarkabed over electronic warfare and how it was major issue during that confrontation. F35 is another plane thats all computer. Including helmet.
"electronic warfare" basically means "drowning bandwidths used by radar and radio comms". It doesn't mean "make computer not work"
However, at some point in the future it may be the case that EW + Stealth are good enough that radar guided munitions can't reliably hit jets, and they'll need to close to visual distances to target each other and dogfight again
Actually make computer not work is what happened. Pilot talked how he had to restart stuff several time to clear issues. He didnt lose control or lose flight capabilities. But there was issue with other stuff.
But if i rember correctly it was wasnt US f35 but flown by some European. No idea if its export versio issue.
I unironically said 'everything's computer' today without realizing, then I told my coworker about the tweet where the guy was mad because he learned the phrase from orangemanbad, so that was fun

The MiG-21 is a 1950s Second Gen fighter. This is like switching a 1950s Lada for a Citroen C4 2007.

This is Russia's modern cockpit from the 57, note that there is a copilot who is more of a navigator/uav guided munitions operator

The mig looks way better. Leave it to the French to be unable to make a high end fighter jet look cool.

It's enormous, it's heavy as shit (basically a huge hunk of welded steel lol), it can't maneuver at all, but it can go mach 2. Peak Soviet design.

Croatia has 70% of Ireland's population and just 17% of its nominal GDP.
Yet Croatia chooses to maintain an air combat component to defend its sovereignty, while Ireland chooses to freeload off the UK.
