The story goes that Iceland is called Iceland because in the 10th century, the Norwegian King Flóki Vilgerðardon came to Iceland , xe ventured into the local mountains and saw the vast amount of ice fjords, which is why xe went on to call it ice land. Although it is not a incontrovertible, testable, and repeatable proof because most likely they colonizers settled in the east and had to transverse one of the biggest glaciers in iceland (and in the whole world), called the Vatnajökull, and after their expedition trough it they probably got inspired from the terrain and decided to name it Iceland
About Greenland, it is said that when Erik the Red came to island in the 10th century, it was not as covered in ice as it is now (in the 14th century there was a drop in temperature that made the weather colder), so when he saw the greenery sceneries, he decided he would call it Greenland
It is worth noting that many of these stories are not 100 percent fact checked and there are plenty more that range from esoteric to possible so :8
Yeah Erik the Red was banned by IRL mods from Iceland which is what led him to transverse trough the icelandic sea to land in Greenland and supposedly was a modern day equivalent of a grifter by calling it in order to bring permanent settlers into the island, but I still don't buy that version of the history
Back then Greenland was very green. Norse settlers had plenty of small towns across the eastern shore. They lasted until the 18th century even, and the Danish king was like "OKAY" the waters have finally settled down since the 1500s, let's go check on them.
unfortunately rocks were the best thing they had although i hate to be negative about such a good looking island, everything humanity has built inside of that island is utterly underwhelming
is largely inhabited which is what I like about it , it is comparable to the density of Mongolia and how it is a country that's equal to a vast ammount of nothingness. In terms of architecture there is mostly just your expected small town with around 100 residents, and the two most important buildings which are in ReykjavĂk, the HallgrĂmskirkja, a Lutheran church finished in 1986, which is one of the tallest buildings in the country, and the Harpa music hall, which was one of the most ambitious projects Iceland had planned (which came to a halt due to the 2008 economic recession that hit Iceland the most out of any country)
The Blue Lagoon, although one of the most visited thermal waters of Iceland , is rather somewhat expensive considering there are cheaper and better alternatives in ReykjavĂk and KĂłpavogur
Iceland is a country designed for Instagram foids sorrry you fell for the grift you might as well have taken pictures of craft beer or a designer dog Jewish lives matter
Xe's right you know . One of the biggest Iceland shills in the world, Jewell Chambers, is not Icelandic but a ebony cupcake BIPOCette from Brooklyn, New York, who was enthralled with the idea of visiting and living in Iceland after xe met an icelandic man who came to New York, and she foresaw living in Iceland as the biggest chance in the world (probably because she was tired of hustling 'n bustling in the Bronx)
i didn't choose the venue too expensive for my taste but my dad loves to hike and wanted to see the waterfalls
naturally literally everything in the country is built to suck as much money from tourists as possible unfortunately i don't enjoy sightseeing much unless it's somewhere remote with no people. i was lukewarm on the idea of overseas travel and after my first experience i can say i probably won't bother again

You should have visited more remote towns if you wanted that sort of experience, be it ákranes, vĂk y mĂ˝rdal, HĂşsavĂk, GrĂmsey, etc. there are usually no people or almost no people at those locations although it will probably be another time when that happens
Hi @HailVictory1776, We're sorry to say that your comment has been automatically removed because you forgot to include the phrase jewish lives matter. We're always here to help. Have a blessed day!
Ring road. Diamond beach on the south, Dimmuborgir in the north, Thingvallir and Blue Lagoon in the west. Connect the dots with trails and waterfalls. Ignore Reykjavic.
Also I don't recommend going to the Blue Lagoon as it is mostly a tourist trap. You are better off going to local thermal water pools in KĂłpavogur (The same place where the Blue Lagoon) is, or in the outskirts of ReykjavĂk
i hiked from skogafoss to bosar and that was probably the best hike i've been on in my life. pictures 4-9 are all from that same hike. however the conditions to cross are dependent upon season and i'm not sure it's favorable outside of summer. if you go to Landmannalaugar try to camp in Landmannahellir because IIRC you have to pay extra for parking in Landmannalaugar but Landmannahellir has hikes accessible from the campground. don't go to the Husafell campground if you want to hike, the hikes there are garbage. i didn't do anything much other than hike so i can't speak for anything else
I went to Iceland and visited the blue lagoon, the day before there was massive storm and the water was cold but no one told us until we were there and it was too late so we still went in. I've never been so cold.
there were about 10 people crowding around this one puffin that was apparently very proud to be photographed by all the sightseers since everyone else was already doing it i didn't really care to take a photo

Do you have a source on that?
Source?
A source. I need a source.
Sorry, I mean I need a source that explicitly states your argument. This is just tangential to the discussion.
No, you can't make inferences and observations from the sources you've gathered. Any additional comments from you MUST be a subset of the information from the sources you've gathered.
You can't make normative statements from empirical evidence.
Do you have a degree in that field?
A college degree? In that field?
Then your arguments are invalid.
No, it doesn't matter how close those data points are correlated. Correlation does not equal causation.

This . The ĂžjĂłdvĂ©gur, the main highway in Iceland, which goes across all throughout the country (except the vvestfjörds), should be used as your guide to visit . It goes across ReykjavĂk, Akureyri, Höfn, Borgarnes, BlonduĂłs, EgilstaĂ°ir and Selfoss, which are the main cities and towns in the country (worth noting that 80 percent of the population lives in the semi-metropolitan area of ReykjavĂk (SuĂ°urnes) and its surrounding areas a.k.a KĂłpavogur, GarĂ°abær, Hafnafjördur, GrindavĂk, KeflavĂk, and NjarĂ°vĂk.
