Does anyone have major spending problems?

I have major issues with addiction and impulsivity in general. Binge eating, binge drinking, self-harm, gambling, and (mostly) past drug addictions. The issue I'm dealing with most right now, or is catching up to me, is spending. I have about $150,000.00 in credit card debt. I'm trying a debt relief program before I have to declare bankruptcy. I also have about $300,000.00 in student loans on top of that.

My need to impress and be liked by other people bleeds into my spending. I leased a BMW. I have a bunch of Louboutins and designer bags. I make good money, but not good enough to spend like this. At this rate I will go bankrupt and never be able to buy a home. I'm 35 and an attorney in an expensive area of the US, for reference.

Any advice on impulsive shopping? Or impulsivity in general? Or can anyone relate? Thanks everyone

If I knew my attorney was in the hole for half a mil I'd fire his butt on the spot.

I'm in the camp where if a bank or credit card company decides to loan this person money they deserve to lose it all. Just wipe the slate clean and make them eat the loss. Maybe then they'll stop issuing r-slurred loans to everyone

We're talking about lawyers here. One of the most Jewish professions in the country. Jews are a lot of things, but "bad with money" isn't one of them. :marseybadgejewgold:

I know a few lawyers but none are dumb enough to rack up that much credit card debt

I spend more than I should but I make sure I don't dig too deep and the big buys are things I can enjoy often and for many years. I also learn how to fix things rather than buying a new one.

I cant understand going into debt unless if done for chasing a higher income. I'm moving so I'm going to take a loan for the cost of moving (several thousands), though it will be paid off in 2 months since my salary is going to double and be worth it after that initial hit. I pointsmaxx on my credit cards but have never carried a balance on them, how the frick do these people hit 150k in credit card debt!?
