I started running again a few days ago.

My first mile after starting back up was an abysmal 18 minutes. Even for an old guy like me that's really bad. Three days later though and I've got it under 10 minutes. My goal is to eventually get that under 6 minutes and work my way up to 40mi/week. I'm starting kind of easy so I don't kill myself and can't use muscle soreness as an excuse to skip a day. My lifetime personal best was a 5k in ~18m30s, but that was also something like 30 years ago.

Awesome! Running is so good for your mental health and you improve really quickly at the beginning. DO NOT OVER DO IT. Use the 10% more per week rule. I was training for a half marathon and was on a strict deadline so I started running all the time. I hurt my patellar tendon and my r-slurred butt kept running on it. It took a full year + some PT exercises to repair it. BE CAREFUL!

Yeah I tried to get back into it earlier this year but did too much too quick and ended up minorly injuring my feet :marseydepressed:

If you've ever been good at it before it's REALLY easy to overdo it at first because you're accustomed to going longer and faster.

Thanks, I'm definitely easing in to it. So far I've just been doing flat road runs around the neighborhood. Once I've acclimated some I'll start doing hills and trails.

Keep at it, ancient king. One of my favorite bits about running is how fast you can improve.
