America is pretty lucky that the Islamic world is more interested in fighting each other than in uniting. If you look at a map of the world and check maritime chokepoints, well, between the Straits of Gibraltar, the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf, and the Strait of Malacca, it turns out that Muslims are in position to interdict many of the most important ones.

A united Islamic state would have 2 billion people, nuclear weapons, loads of oil, and the ability to stop like half of global trade at any moment they wanted to.
