Do you think Murrica will self-implode within 50 years due to a repeat of late Roman Republic civil infighting and contrasting reforms, or do we have another 200 years of blooper reels?

Gracchi Brothers, Marius, Sulla, Pompey, Crassus, Caesar. Are we watching the beginning of the end in our lifetime, or is the system robust enough to let complete r-slurs keep "saving" America from the last guy in charge.

Or better yet, is anyone even really making a difference at all while in the presidency, and we keep getting worked up and dooooming over nothing?

Comparing nation states of the current year to the Roman empire and what replaced it is really just peak :#soyjakanimeglasses:

For instance, what came after the Roman empire... Christendom and the middle ages, right?

And where was the dominant center of Christendom during the middle ages? Ya, the city state of Rome.

The Romans kept on issuing parcels of land to be administered by Germans instead of fighting them all the time.

Nobody realized when Rome fell for like 300 years and everyone just kind of kept doing their own local thing.

The Papal state knew it was fricked without the Roman military so they sucked Karl der Grosse's peepee in the 800s to recreate a Meme Western Empire.

But you're taking my metaphor too far. I'm just asking if repeated Counter-Reformations every 4 years and the internal dissonance of the population is just going to crack us as a nation into two or more, not if it's identical in every way to shit from 2000 years ago.

Because we have digital mass communication and they don't. It's a huge reason why they regionalized administrations, so that they could respond to local issues quickly and independently without losing time for slow communication to the central authority.
