The argument is that people's economic pessimism is detached from economic reality. Which is correct and yes being wrong is your fault.

I just didn't want to concede the argument. It feels under control these days but it really put a dent in my realized income and i havent gotten a pay raise to match it

That's fine and I get it man, my raises have barely beaten inflation. I just think when it comes to financials it's worth putting any ego aside and being as practical as you possibly can.

I get it the meta of what I'm thinking about is the question am I worse off now than i was at the end of 2020. I think the practical answer for me is yes, even with raises it just didn't match.
