USAID is paying Musk and the investigation would at worst stop his Starlink funding. And he shut down the organization that funds him, so it's literally against his own interests to shut down USAID isn't it? Everything is the opposite what journos say

IGs are fricking also independent of the fricking agency they supervise. Musk becoming congress and killing USAid doesn't kill the fricking IG function, that would exist for years after the fricking agency stops existing.
