Trump Gets Broad Backing On Illegal Immigration Crackdown: I&I/TIPP Poll
Background: this and r ezraklein have had the same discussion since the election. Both subs are politically more moderate than most Redditors but are still hopelessly libtarded on some issues. Including illegal immigration apparently. If you want to see what liberal wonks are thinking it's good to check them out.
With all due respect to the poll, does it matter if they have broad backing on an inhumane and grotesque policy? Slavery at one point had broad backing, it didn't make it any more right.
And given that polls are wickedly unreliable it's a pointless gesture to even measure.
You mean it shows how out of touch you and most Democrats are. (-5)
No, we're just not Nazis. But keep on trying champ. Keep on trying.
All nations that deport people are Nazis? Wow that's worldwide then.
Well there are Nazis everywhere. But yes classifying a group of people as "illegal" and then sending them to Gitmo? Yep, that is some Nazi level stuff.
Nazis everywhere! Even under his bed! Does this Redditor go slashing up windmills with Sancho Panza?
Becuase it's not about illegal immigration it's about ensuring a vulnerable population feels threatened. See the chicken plant fiasco from a couple years ago where an ice raid was called by the owners of the plant themselves after the workers were demanding better working conditions and were raising issues of sexual assault from management.

Redditors uphold democracy as a sacred value that's axiomatically good, but the second it points in a direction they don't like they draw parallels to slavery lol
