LOL. This is really bad idea.
Even if Derek Chauvin didn't technically do anything wrong, by all accounts he's a huge peepee and it sure looks like he killed George Floyd. As a result, a huge portion of the American public believes that he's guilty to the point that they won't be dissuaded otherwise.
It sucks for Chauvin, but keeping him in jail will prevent massive civil unrest regardless of his actual guilt. Normally I'm a principles before practice person when it comes to ethical issues, but the juice (if there is any) is definitely not worth the squeeze on this one.

how long even was his sentence? I kinda figured it'd be over half over by now.
Here in Chicago we had a cop gun down some dude on PCP with a knife. He got convicted of murder 2 for it (probably because on his way to the scene he declared in his squad car "I'm just gonna fricking kill him" or something like that). But he was sentenced to like 7 years prison.
Lots of libs/progs were up in arms about that "omg that's so low he must be in prison for longer" but that's literally the standard sentence for second degree murder here, and I kinda doubt it's much higher over in minneapolis.

lmao okay yeah I'd be fine with commuting that after a period of time, not that POTUS has that power
didn't they also convict one of the other cops who literally didn't do anything wrong for being associated with it?

All three of the others. 2 pled guilty and got 3 and 3.5 years, one asked for an evidence trial and got the maximum of 4.75 years.

Gotta love American justice system, one guy who wanted ot prove his not guilty because well he was, got the good ol deterrent to always take it from behind.

A lot of people still think Kyle Rittenhouse murdered two men on purpose. A lot of people think Daniel Penny intentionally murdered a man on a train for no reason except black.
Not only is it a terrible idea to forgo justice because idiots will react badly, but revisiting the Summer of Love will just re-emphasise how bullshit it was and how fricked it is that there was a lack of consequences for any of it, including murders.
I don't care if he's a huge peepee unless we're suddenly sending people with attitude problems to prison. So the deal is that he stays imprisoned if we throw everyone on BlueSky in as well. Otherwise he's the definition of a political prisoner.

Kyle did murder several black people on purpose. What else would you call opening fire on a peaceful BLM protest unprovoked? With an illegal assault gun no less!

Yeah, I kinda feel dirty for even saying it, but rolling this one back is a guaranteed shitstorm which will almost definitely result in more bodies in the ground.
Sometimes though you just gotta take the
and move on. Now I'm not Chauvin, so it's easy for me to say that, but I just don't see a better answer here.

The mass arrests and inspiring stand for truth and justice would result in more order and freedom on net.

That's my point though. In this case it wouldn't.
It really looks like Chauvin killed Floyd and the people who believe he did do it are so dug in, that if the verdict of this case was challenged the scale of the unrest it would generate would be used as an excuse for not looking at future cases of a similar nature.
This is one of the very few times, that the expendient course of action (i.e. letting Chavin stay in prison) is the least unethical.
On another, more practical, note, I will say that it also matters who would initiate a new investigation. If a Democratic government started it, the odds of huge problems are significantly lower. But Republican? With Trump in office? Forget about it. You're just asking for chaos, coast-to-coast.
