I think many Dems didn't watch it. I didn't. I'm just watching the recap. That said, if the polls are true, our country is full of gullible idiots who don't know they're being lied to.
They literally have a poll in it saying it's mostly Republicans / independents watching
I wanted to add more quotes, but this here is the whole comment section

Have Redditors reached the point that they're not only incapable of !mathematics or arithmetic, they're incapable of recognizing numbers?
76% approve, /u/ultralightdude calls it "half", and at least 30 other people agree with him. !dramatards, I'm afraid that no matter how hard we try, we'll never be half the !r-slurs /r/politics commenters are.
As for the poll itself, it's interesting that the overwhelming majority of independents viewed the speech positively. I'm sure at least a few of them are !chuds or !nonchuds (i.e., too far right/left for the mainstream parties), but most are probably centrists. So of people who watched the speech (which rules out all us apathetic !grillers), only Democrats disliked it. Shows how out of touch they are with average !burgers.

Independents voluntarily watching a Trump speech in 2025 are probably Trump supporters. I doubt they're moderates

I'm not so sure about that. Check the other questions. Especially this bit:
They don't have proper crosstabs, so I can't be entirely certain, but those numbers suggest that Republicans and most independents agreed that Trump was "presidential", "entertaining", and "inspiring", while Democrats and most independents agreed that he was "divisive", and, oddly enough, independents split 50/50 on whether or not he was "unifying". Not sure how most of them can think he's "divisive" while half of them also think he's "unifying", but there it is.
Same deal for the "inflation plan" question. Those numbers look like a slight majority of independents think Trump's got a plan, but a sizeable number think he doesn't.
All in all, about what I'd expect if most of the self-identified independents really are swing voters.

Poll-takers are r-slurred, only an r-slur would waste their time on something that solely benefits an organization they are not a part of

The like/dislike questions on policy in the speech were about the same as the overall approval, except for tariffs. Some of this might be due to it being a good speech, but I think it's something like 65% full MAGA (with 15% understanding he's divisive), 12% approve with reservations (maybe some of these are swayed independents?), and 23% anti-Trump (maybe a few of these are swayed ind.)
As a prior, if we split independents as 50/70 R, 20/70 D (same ratio as non-ind), we get a 70-30 split, which Trump does seem to improve on slightly.

The crime question is evidence that democracy was a mistake.
Violent crime is nearly at its lowest ever recorded level. Xers need to go to camps.

Neolibs trying to appropriate chud speak exudes extreme little brother energy. We're you embarrassed when you lost the election?

Hes actually right though its about reports not prosecutorial deals. The issue is that reporting stats was made voluntary so states like NY, FL and CA have like 80% of their precincts failing to disclose their stats entirely.

Yes, he was lying by omission and he knew it. He's an incredibly try hard neolib propagandist with the cringe schtick of saying BIPOCcute twink to show the chuds he can be just as heckin rebellious as they are.

Someone forgot about the end of mandatory reporting. For 2023 we had like 80% of Florida and New York police offices outright failing to disclose their stats to the FBI.
