I went to see a play recently. Based on a movie from the 50s.
Three of the five main characters were replaced with black actors, including a role originally played by Marilyn Monroe. Normally that's 'whatever' but the script made numerous references to them being black, implying this was an intentional decision rather than "he was the best actor who auditioned". They also replaced basic crossdressing with full out "I'm trans now"
