The arguments of "do you really want to go to a school that's mostly asian" are p funny.
In general the people trying to do damage control for the "holistic" admissions are just terrible at it. They can't figure out a way to do it without pooping on asians because asian performance really throws a big wrench into the whole blame the honkys narrative. It's stupid because asian parents will legitimately riot over this, which is by the way that's the biggest difference between asians and BIPOC/latinx.
Affirmative actions in these institutions is like a bandaid on the gaping wound that is the shitty K-12 education that lower-class Americans get. Without having more parents that buy in and dedicate themselves to making sure their kids get a good education no amount of money or programs will make a real difference.

Even wealthy black people still tend to live in poorer neighborhoods. People argue about whether this is the legacy of segregation, or rich black people choosing to live near family/friends/other black people vs moving to a better neighborhood.
But at the end of the day, there's only a handful of really rich, predominantly Black areas in the whole USA e.g.Kenwood in Chicago, Baldwin Hills in LA.
Even kids from rich Black families probably go to worse schools, are exposed to more crime and neighborhood dysfunction, and have friends and peers that don't take education seriously, or can't afford to.

institutional infrastructure. to have a bill gates you need 3 generations of successful people. like it or not theres really only been one generation of black people who have had the chance to go to ivy's and start climbing the corp ladder. this is obvious when you look at merchants. they have had 1000s of years of institutional infrastructure so if your a merchant there's an incredibly good chance that whatever you wanna do someone is doing, has done, and will help you get there. on the other hand the first black vc billionaires just started to arrive in the 2010s. it's going to take a lonnnnng time to build the cultural captia to create successful institutions. asans actually had these institutions forcibly created in SK, JP and China removed their old cultural practices during Mao and paved it over under Deng / Hu Jintao.

60 years of affirmative action is an incredibly short period of time. and yes there has been INCREDIBLE improvement in black outcomes over those 60 years. there is almost 12 African American billionaires. 60 years ago there wasn't a single black centimillionaire. you really have to remember bipocs actually started from the bottom. 60 years ago there were no black people on wall street. like zero. even if there was only a single black banker that would be progress. if you look at the gob data 12% of people employed in finance are now black. yes theres exceptions and for Bezos you could look at David Steward or Robert F Smith. It cannot be understated how far black people have come. there is a reason segregation ended.

I looked up those 12 black billionaires and most are in the sports or entertainment industry where affirmative action doesn't really help you.
Even setting that aside I'm not sure looking at the very top outliers is a great way of measuring progress. The average black family still has zero networth in wealth or assets. According to google Gemini: "The racial wealth gap between Black and white Americans has persisted and even widened since the 1960s, with white families holding significantly more wealth than Black families, despite some initial convergence in the 1960s and 1970s."
12 percent of black people working in finance might be secretaries for all we know. Although I imagine some of the progress is just elite blacks from Africa migrating here rather than a sign of actual improvement in the base black population in America.

I mean yeah? I don't care if they're a bloc or not, you should want the best and brightest as your peers to push education further. I don't get why this is an issue? People are really just afraid of admitting there's a societal problem with regards in how we treat our children's education. Something that Asian people seemingly don't have. There was a story I read of a black kid living in one of the richest zip codes, both parents were successful black leader types. But on weekends and holidays they'd visit family still living in the hood and uncles would come by. So the kids heavily socialized with the African American culture and wanted to be like them who were naturally cooler seeming than the white kids at school.

I'd argue that's not enough, the schools are so shit parents alone can't fix it.
There was a hubbub in my town a while ago because the high school let a 13 year old sped girl who was suppose to be 1 to 1, always under supervision just wander off with some 19 year old student instead of putting her on the bus. No one called her parents to report this and her dad had to go out and find her.
School doesn't care. Didn't comment on it, has let it happen again since, doesn't seem to understand why it was a big deal to start with.

Despite the memes about American teachers being underpaid the truth is we already spend a ton per student when it doesn't matter.
It's literally just about parental involvement. Not teacher salaries. Not student IQ. Not even income by itself. The rates of single parenthood per ethnic group correlates directly to student success, and thats not even taking into account cultural differences towards education.

It's literally only about student IQ. Involved parents are usually smart parents. They get involved because they know it's a smart choice.
Single parents tend to be stupid people, that's how they ended up as single parents. Studies of children of widows show they're just as successful as other kids, meaning fathers involvement isn't the key ingredient
