Monopoly money doesnt do much in the short-mid term; needs to be tied to something major that affects Main Street before I'd start getting worried. Unless you see companies doing things like laying people off or massive repossessions I don't think we've got anything to worry about here. I feel like the markets reacting to an increase in cost of goods but I think that hiring will increase if not to avoid the tariffs.
bruv, JPM has already doubled its' prediction for the chances of a recession to 60%. Going by the R-slur in Chief, this war will only escalate (As wars tend to do).
The damage is already done. Trust in the US is at a low not seen this century. Nobody is going to open factories in the US without confidence. The end result is even less US jobs
But I'm sure this is all temporary pain and Trump has 5D chess move so in a year from now it'll be all worth it
Its really obvious that the goal is short term financial losses for shareholders in exchange for bolstering America's production and manufacturing in the longterm. Think back on Elon Musk firing 90% of Twitter's employees only for it to still function perfectly fine. Or those videos of women posting their fake jobs where they basically just reply to a few emails then spend the rest of the day going for coffee and brunch with their friends.
Those are the companies suffering right now and they're going to shed their dumb bullshit out of necessity while rural working class people are going to have new manufacturing plants opening to them. Yes, manufacturing jobs suck, but they pay well for low-skill people and there are a lot of communities that need them. This is also without considering the importance of divesting from dependence on Chinese manufacturing long term.

Its really obvious that the goal
It's really obvious that there is no goal, no coherent policy, just an r-slur slipping into dementia with an army of sycophants with competing agendas fighting over who gets to lick his anus.
I wish they would just do some sort of interview where they just asked "President Trump's agenda, what is it?" And for the first 5 minutes he just said "I don't know, I dont have one.. I just react to the people around me"
You can certainly argue that it might not be the most effective policy and the consequences might not be fully realized by the administration, but you have to be functionally r-slurred yourself to not recognize the intent behind it.
Also manufacturing is poors' nations economies, why are we cheering on regression?
Because if you rely entirely on manufacturing from your geopolitical enemies, you run into very dangerous long-term consequences. You need a degree of self-sustainability to keep your economy resilient.
