I've seen that story about the illiterate college student before. She apparently used apps on her phone for text-to-speech and speech-to-text.
But that doesn't explain how tf she could have done exams. Were they letting her use her phone in the middle of written exams? Why?
I get the feeling there's more to this story than is being told. Either she totally flunked every exam and the school passed her through anyways, or she had some sort of IEP or whatever paperwork that said the school had to let her use her phone during exams. I'd put money on the latter - schools can be pretty ridiculous at passing through r-slurs, but she must have literally gotten a 0% in every single English exam she's ever taken if she wasn't allowed her phone during the exam. She doesn't mention having to deal with flunking every exam either.
