If youtube gets shut down and the entire archive of old vids get deleted I'm gonna seethe so hard, yes that includes videos posted 15 years ago with 200 views and next to no value.

They recently removed the option to sort by oldest video on channels.
Are they going to start deleting or compressing old videos that haven't been viewed in a while to save space? Or is this just to force "engagement" on newer shit?

Well, just a few years ago YouTube set all unlisted videos uploaded before 1 Jan 2017 to private, so at least they didn't de-jure delete it, but they did de-facto deleted the ones from dormant accounts, since only the uploader of the videos can watch them.
I have witnessed so many forums, wikis, and YTPs go missing, only to be replaced by soulless corporate fast food, we need a Blade Runner tears in the rain Marsey!

A few years ago I was collecting a playlist of "ancient undiscovered" videos
It included a grainy short video shot on a nokia with about 20 views that was footage of a group of buddies walking through a crowded mall that has since been bulldozed. They encounter the weird kids and walk faster on their way to gamehaven to look at game cubes, but the video ends before they reach their destination.
A similar one where a guy is thinking about buying Call of Duty 3 at Walmart, there are no words, he's just looking through PS2 games after walking past some Hannah Montana shit
a few decent skits from 2007 with less than 200 views
I am so mad at myself for not downloading all that shit because the playlist is now a sea of "this video is unavailable"
