I've been super into UFOs since I was like 12 and my thoughts are we are in the final stages of "soft disclosure" where the government slowly gets the public used to the acceptance of UFOs by releasing information little by little. Are the UFOs actually alien craft? Are they even real? I don't know, but I also don't think it's the Project Blue Beam level conspiracy schizos are parroting. It's interesting for sure, and I think by this time next year our conversations surrounding the topic will look a lot different

Early last year most non-tinfoil conversations were still at the lens flare/weather balloon explanation, the relatively recent admission of floating spheres in the Middle East as well as older videos being officially disclosed and official government agencies making identifying UFOs more of a priority rather than a mockable side-project, as well as even mainstream news sources taking a more neutral stance shows that disclosure is moving from the fringe and unthinkable to something considered possible or even expected

could not agree more, even if this whole thing is a double reverse psyop to make the goobermint spend more on the military it's going to be interesting

I think part of the reason this is so popular is that conspiracy schizos have an obsession with being contrarian and believing the opposite of what "the elites" say, therefore if the government discloses UFOs it must be a false flag/red herring used to cover up [insert single-issue concern].

Never heard of project blue beam until the Las Vegas incident. That's just straight up stealing from Watchmen.

Why can't conspiracy nuts think of their own ideas?

I love telling people Tom DeLonge left blink 182 and is a major UFO expert now who revealed previously classified videos that the US government confirmed as real.

i cautiously agree and no matter what the answer is it's gonna be interesting BUT there has been some interesting perspectives being posted that might not be great for the human race

Good for the human race or not this is comparable to meeting “God” essentially.

Visitor from the heavens and everything. That’s the type of shit that really interests me. It’s a connected theme from most ancient cultures.

I’ve been watching too many alien documentaries.

/r/UFOs and other such subreddits are filled with complete morons. Unfortunately, the entire subject tends to attract these types. That's why legitimate scientists are so reluctant to engage: it's not necessarily that they don't want to entertain these ideas (some of them don't), it's that there's so much bullshit, grifters, and loonies to deal with.

It genuinely pisses me off how many r-slurs get in the way when anyone wants to seriously discuss UFOs. All of them trying to push paranormal, gnostic, etc bullshit. Fricking vermin, the lot of em.

yeah and that story was from some tabloid shit

HOWEVER, this mirrors the stories of abductions who claim the rooms inside the craft where larger than the craft itself so...

I'm not being ironic, as far as we can tell no matter where you are in the universe you are in the middle. That is to say, we are in the center of the universe but if you went straight upwards 7 million lightyears, you would still be in the center. Why would that be?

Yaltabaoth laid his trap at the dawn of time, beware.

If our world is a simulation that doesn’t matter anyway because that is our world. So why even care what would a non-simulation world even mean

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Agreed, it is stupid to think it would change who you are, or anything of your circumstance, to be in a simulation. But it may make you think of what you are, and why you think. Why is it that it doesn't matter either way?

if you could link the /x/ post i'd appreciate it

as far as what i think i've always been a firm believer that aliens exist somewhere in the universe but the idea that they've come all the way here and somehow crashed their insanely advanced craft in places other than the middle of the deep ocean has always seemed so borderline impossible. no matter what somethings really going down but i'm not getting into any camp until more info is out

Jump in the discussion.

In my opinion, Garry Nolan offers the most plausible explanation for crashed extraterrestrial craft: they are an advanced system that are deployed to distant star systems to build and maintain drones that gather information. Imagine some kind of "seed" craft that is sent hundreds of light years away. It's designed to set up shop near the object it is assigned to observe, then manufacture and maintain drones that perform this observation. In other words, extraterrestrial life sends a highly advanced, self-sufficient drone factory.

Now imagine that one of these things was sent thousands of years ago, maybe tens of thousands of years ago, maybe even longer. It's been operating independently for all this time, beaming back the data it has gathered. It's not unreasonable to expect such a system to occasionally screw up. Intelligent life that is much more advanced than us is still not perfect. Designing a system that can deploy hundreds of light years away and maintain itself independently for thousands of years while never screwing up is unimaginably difficult.

It's not hard to imagine that a handful of these drones have failed over the course of thousands of years.

In that case I'd expect more artefacts having been passed down for generations and likewise more things to turn up beneath the soil layer. Somehow all the crashes are very recent and all the old stuff is a story here or there about some strange thing in the sky. This seems to me like a very recent change of affairs, coinciding with USA emerging as superpower, so I think psyop too.

Yeah, that's a good point. The only possible counter I can think of is that only a sufficiently industrialized power might be able to retrieve these craft before the automated system can.

Very illegal but possibly historical bait idea: If a few people with anonymity and access to some classified but otherwise unrelated information released that information along with fabricated documents saying something "important" about UFOs in a context related to the other documents (to not look out of place), they could very easily pretend to be whistleblowers, and the attempts to damage control the real documents included would make it very difficult to call the fabricated documents out. For an example of what this could be like, imagine if Jack Teixeira had also included fake documents describing the alleged objects recently seen over Ukraine during the war (to give a reason for it to have been found with the others) in a way consistent with declassified documents but also including new information about their capabilities and origins.

Obviously everything described above is only a hypothetical scenario and should not be attempted IRL.
