This is actually a pretty old idea. Hang gliders were used to infiltrate behind Israeli lines with some success in the 1980s.
I think they'll remain used in certain very niche roles but not on a huge scale like this again. They relied on surprise and most of those guys have probably been killed by now. It can't be too hard to come up with a counter to them.
It may even be as easy as just fiddling with the knobs on radar so it doesn't filter out slow moving objects.

This might be Israel/Palestine's equivalent of Ukrainian DIY weaponized quadcopters acting as a much cheaper alternative to military drones, but as an alternative for airlifting paratroopers instead: A much cheaper alternative that still fulfills the main purpose during a war where one side has much less resources than the other.
