They do. They usually have multiple payment gateways set up. Diversification and all that.
Patreon is essentially marketed towards artists (read: tech-r-slurs) and is very plug-and-play compared to PayPal. Fees are also slightly lower with Patreon.
PayPal also has its reputation of withholding funds, freezing accounts etc. and generally being a big bad corporation.

PayPal can be really bad for merchants. It's actually very client friendly, so you can file a dispute for 180 days. If you get too many, they will kill your account. Patreon puts a buffer between the merchant and the customer, so if there are chargebacks your PayPal would be safe. Also, PayPal will randomly flag you for security. It's happened to me before when I transferred $400 after working with like $80k through PayPal for the year. It wasn't a huge deal, but they freeze your account until you give them an ID and utility bill. My account was created back in the 1990s too, and they flagged me around 2010.

Yeah, I have no idea what triggered the review. I had probably worked with 6 figures between payments and transfers to my account, and then one day from work (this was when I was a wagie), I transferred $400 and poof got flagged. My job was only 30 mins from my house, and I believe our connection came out of Miami, but nothing that should result from a security trigger.
Also, I've seen some horror stories. Like one guy opened his account when he was underage, and 10 years later his account got flagged and they suspended him and wouldn't give it back. I've seen people complain that they got suspended after taking donations and I guess PayPal didn't like where they were coming from and suspended them. If you do digital items like I do, forget it. Any dispute is an auto-win for the client.

One major economic change that’s happened in the last 20-30 years is that the majority of stock is owned by investment firms selling funds (Vanguard, Fidelity, Blackrock, etc) rather than individual shareholders. This means that all of their investors will be pushing them to do risky shit, because if they’re invested in 2000 different companies and can get all of them to cut their operating expenses by 5%, even if a few dozen get hacked and go out of business it’s still a net gain and the fund’s value will go up.

It's pretty clear that this domain is being used to circumvent the sanctions we have placed on this community, namely disallowing both username pings and subreddit mentions due to the culture of harassment that pervades this subreddit.
These sanctions are not a joke, and they are incredibly serious. Your users, and by extension your modteam, are continually engaged in bad faith activity and harassment. This is something we have spoken to you about before many times, and /r/Drama has been given a lot more chances than many other subreddits. However, it seems to be becoming quite clear that no one here intends on following sitewide rules or doing anything to understand and combat the harassment that continues here regularly.
For now, all we have done is blocked the rdrama.net domain. The next time another mod takes steps to try and circumvent the sanctions we've placed, or does anything to continue the culture of harassment in this subreddit, we will begin removing moderators. We'll start with mods who have taken the actions, but we will also remove anyone else who seems culpable.
