Just a little more stuff I dug up. Unfortunately I don't think Kethryvis got the giga-mop, but she did like a reddit :marseytrain: admins post on twitter which implies some internal drama:

https://x.com/CKWang/status/1618348168063905792?s=20

You'd think Kethryvis and her actual thesis on Internet Drama damage control (https://www2.sjsu.edu/anthropology/docs/projectfolder/Moellenberndt_Christine_thesis.pdf) would be able to figure out how to deescalate all of this, but come think of it, we should really thank her sometime for making http://rdrama.net possible.

Reddit is the same since 2012 except shittier. Have Chat GPT replace current Reddittors. Not the employees, the actual messageboards.

Civilization reluctantly but successfully adopted wide screens now these cute twinks are making people use only 20% of the screen. I hate webshits so much :marseyraging:

Holy shit, why do they keep wasting space like that? No one wants to hit the down button ten times to read a sentence. R-slurs.

:marseyshitforbrains: Uh, give it more whitespace. It needs a cleaner look.

This isn't a finished product yet. My guess is that they want to fill some of the wasted space with recommended content and ads. If they didn't waste the space on the left, it wouldn't be as bad. That would still leave space on the right to push personalized recommendations.

Still not as bad as Twitter was, though. Back when 80% of the screen was whitespace and if you dared to click on any of the whitespace it would bring to the profile of the person who wrote the tweet or the front page or some shit.

Looks like they are using real WebComponents to build the UI.

It's not bad... it's still not as readable as old.reddit.com but better than the new one. I like how the videos integrate with the page on /r/combatfootage

The comment page is more dense and the interaction is nice, but the design is far too busy with all of the lines, (+) buttons, arrows, and small icons.

![](/images/16747700038639271.webp)

It's also very aggressively hiding deep threaded comments so parent comments get more attention. I had to click "Load more" about 20 times in one thread.

it's not literally the worst like new.reddit, that has to count for something. Layout is ugly but at least it's not so gratingly slow
