The commit is attributed to Nishad Singh (FTX engineering director, who's pleaded guilty and will testify later on in the trial)

bro got caught in the commit history :marseylaugh: idk im not a git expert !codecels but there has to be some way to add in fraud producing code without it being perma logged on the commit log lol

Rebase isn't intended for hiding the author of a change. Sure you can misuse it that way, but you might as well just delete git entirely.

Yes, you can set your name and email to anything when you make the commit. (Commits can be signed, which defeats this problem, but signing is off by default and many people don't bother). See this issue, where someone at Mojang kept adding toes to Minecraft and they couldn't figure out who it was: https://twitter.com/Xilefian/status/1663147726035382272

You could click on the toes to "tickle" them, and when a player was in bed asleep you could sneak up and give them a foot massage (increased max HP)

You just sign it as someone else lmao. You may not have the same private key they use to sign their other commits but you sure don't have to use your own

there is fricking but you'd need admin access on the fricking repo or whatever they were fricking using for hosting. wouldnt surprise me if they put it in github or something that a fricking financial institute shouldn't do.

Run a different repo that isn't public, its not like people check SHAs anyway.
