I have a coworker who is in a rock band and apparently they use Suno to write their songs. They'll come up with a really basic melody and lyrics and have Suno come up with the rest to "save time" and be more effecient.
I listened to their stuff a bit and it's the most generic, basic 4 chord rock songs possible and I just don't get it.
Like, at that point why not just stick to playing covers if something even that basic exceeds your creative abilities

I find that so fascinating about a lot of small time musicians and bands. There is all these channels and communities dedicated to stuff like optimizing your social media presence and optimizing your music for streaming and then you check out the people following these tips and they pull like maybe 4 digit listener numbers at the very most?

As an "ai bro" who occasionally has made non-meme songs, AI currently is awful at writing any rhyme other than AABB or ABAB (there's also the third option of asking for non-rhyming poetry, but that usually creates awful lyrics), and Suno in particular tries to force AABB or ABAB rhythm on songs that clearly aren't written that way, as well as artificially splitting a song into 4-line subsections with extremely uniform spacing. I mostly write my own songs (and then spend much more time repeatedly generating them until it sounds like it does in my imagination, which has taken over 20 tries), and I find that a more useful use of AI for song writing is asking questions like "what is a word that rhymes with __ and has a similar meaning to __", or doing something similar with an entire line.
