So I made a thing for our company as I transition myself out
It's basically a website to emulate what I do in excel. tl;dr it's a search bar and the dropdown has item info + a checkbox
Clicking the the row turns on the checkbox for the item and adds it to a list below. Then on the paper itself they can change qty, etc.
So. I used a thing called prepared queries or something that phpdocs tells me to not even quote the user input, as they use an internal separator.
Now my question. Is there a way for this to go wrong? I've never created such a search bar function. I can literally use regex to find the items which is (imo) fucking amazing.
It's a list of like 15,000 items and the javascript uses php to do the actual API call via POST, and it returns JSON array of the returned rows.
(as an aside I am fucking blown away how incredibly fast this is. Each key input calls a separate request and yet the resulting searchbox is populated fucking immediately.)
postgres string just uses where name *~ $1
Just seems too good to be true, anyone here make similar types of search boxes? I talk a lot of shit about javascript but holy fucking can it be fast. Rendering html on a page is damn near instant and I'm testing this on shitty computers and phones with like 40k up/down

Day 1 of @EFDevcon and a group of us women got harassed by a gross guy! What did the Ethereum Foundation team do? Smiled and chatted with him for 10 minutes and let him go on his way! I feel horribly unsafe at this event. 👎 Take women seriously when they report harassment. pic.twitter.com/DtW9fqZLkK

Mac growth the only highlight in a declining PC market, shows IDC report
Dramatic Mac growth was the only highlight in the global PC market in the third quarter of this year, according to a new IDC report.
IDC says that it is still monitoring average selling prices (ASPs) beyond Q1, but it has seen one trend: the ASP increased five quarters in a row to the first quarter of this year.
Additionally, the ever-popular MacBook Air got a major redesign back in June.
Just like the 2021 MacBook Pro, the display has also been pushed closer to the edges with the addition of a display notch.
The Air is 11.3mm thin, features a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID power button, and MagSafe returns for magnetic safe charging.
