You're giving Putin enthusiasts too much credit here. It's a random Donbas town they've been fighting over for months and has even less strategic value than Bakhmut. The uKKKrainians, strategic geniuses that they are, are doing the same thing they always do and are fighting for it inch for inch instead of retreating to the nearby hills and pummelling the ziggas from there.
