Russian wanted to replace khohol gov to a new gov that would agree not to join NATO and forget about Crimea they thought khohols wouldn't fight because it's stupid so they lightly entered Kiev and failed then they decided to retreat thinking about plan B and offered Ukraine just to forget about NATO but Johnson came to Kiev and told khohols can win and get all the territory back because Russian weak so they rejected peace deal. Russian were thinking what to do then khohols went on offence something Russian again didn't expected so they retreated to more defensive positions. Because khohols went on offence a legit low iq move, Russian decided to annex 4 new region and fight till last Ukrainian using turtling strategy where Russian will just harass Ukraine and wait till they go on big offensives that strategy will also reduce distraction. It worked because khohols are legit low iq and that reinforced Putin idea that after they kill all able men using that strategy they will be able to get cities without turning them into bakhmut.

So this conflict started because Putin didn't wanted Ukraine in nato and wanted to formalise Crimea status.

Ukraine started fighting hard because they were afraid Putin wanted to capture whole Ukraine.

Because Ukrainian fighting that hard Putin decided to get rid of them and capture important territory.

Ukrainian now realising their goal of getting Crimea back was ultra r-slurred and now they lost a lot of men and Putin won't sign any deal beside capitulation of Ukraine.

But Avdiivka supposedly to be most fortified place in Ukraine so it's surprising that Russian soldiers walked 500 meters without a fight and captured couple of buildings
