Himars was an effective weapon only in one specific event. Is that it caused Russian troubles to supply Kherson. Russian tornado-s is a better weapon than himars but you'll never hear about it because Ukraine was hyping every western weapon in hope to get more. But as Zaluzhnyy told wars bring innovation, Ukrainian brought drones to the war. Drones ware successfully used by Ukrainian in 2022 until Russian build their own that ended up being better and in bigger quantities. By early 2023 Russian had drones that could wipe out himars and at that time Russian developed glide bombs. Those glide bombs are the reason why Russian were able to destroy Ukrainian bunkers.
Those things are now known for over a year.
The war is now political. West has invested a lot into Ukraine and after 1000+ tanks, Ukraine is short on men, so it's clear winning for Ukraine is out of question. For west now the goal is to get a peace deal with most bangs but for Ukraine is to drag western soldiers into that conflict because giving up for Zelenskyy is death sentence to his political career. He won't be able to explain to his people why he didn't signed the 2022 peace deal that was almost perfect for Ukraine. For Putin it doesn't matter if he gets to officially the territories he calls his own and removal of sanctions or the fight continues and he captures more territories.
All the assumptions about Ukraine winning were made with idea that Russian would just give up and surrender. But those assumptions never asked why would Russian give up if Ukrainian in much worse situation that Russian are fighting and in the end of the day those 2 are same race and have same heritage.
