Some background info

I haven't been following the A league for long but from what I've gathered Melbourne Victory have a reputation of being a bunch of c*nts. They used to have this player Kevin Muscat who had a reputation for being a psychopath. I guess this trickled down to their hardcore fans who try to imitate ultras you see in Europe, probably as a coping mechanism for how no one in this country cares about football unless its the world cup.

This also couldn't have happened at a worse time. Earlier this week the A League announced that they had made a deal with the NSW government to host the grand finals for the next 3 years in Sydney, regardless of the locations of the teams playing. This upset a bunch of fans who staged walkouts in some of the other games. But the Melbourne derby was different, because a derby is a great opportunity to grow the sport locally, especially right after the performance of the national team getting to the ro16.

Right now theres a bunch of doomposting both of reddit and twitter. Sky news producers wanking themselves raw thinking of how they're going to report on these hooligans.

Edit: honestly this ruins any positives of a protest this game. This probably gives the APL some feelings of justification to move the grand final out of melbourne.
