They have been seething for a good 10 years. Then Bell went and proved GMs right.

That’s up to NFLPA to negotiate. They’re dumbasses for not getting it removed.

the game has evolved to where RBs don't really matter much unless you have the absolute best in the league

the rules and penalty enforcement encourage slangin' and bangin' way more than establishing a ground game

All I do is get mad at RB in Fantasy for either pooping the bed or ripping through D lines like a 1000 degree pitbull through a small child.

RBs are still important. It's just that their shelf life tends to be really low but for some reason they've been getting huge contracts.

I mean, good backs get used more like tight ends sometimes, but that doesn't make running backs obsolete. Who else are you going to hand of the ball to? Part of their position is having them as a threat that just might grab the ball and run really fast past your line if you don't account for them.

I am a casual when it comes to football, and i love seeing a dude break free and just run the whole field and showboat. But i do feel bad for RBs. They just get the most brutal injuries so frequently by the nature of their position. Its crazy that being a 30 year old back is a bordeline miracle

Oh yeah, it's an absolutely brutal position. I'm sure it's horrible for your body both in physical injuries and CTE type shit.

RB's struggle to get like 12 million/ year now. QB's get several times that as a signing bonus

Are NFL contracts fully guaranteed yet? I know no owned wants to pay a guy to blows his ACL 2 weeks into every season, but it is sad to see an athlete lose their enite life by the time they're 23

Nope. They can still have a lot of conditions attached.

I don't really know any details. I think it's usually guaranteed that you get x amount for y long, and usually you're stuck with the player unless you have another team willing to buy their contract.

I think the players that make it have a pretty good negotiating position.

I see. I thought it was one of those leagues that at least one point used to guarantee like maybe 20% of the salary, the frick em if they dont play. Kind of an insurance policy for ownership in a sport where guys get hurt real bad, but there is a good chance i am wrong, or its since been ammended to be like all the other NA sports.

You can get a rookie to do that, it doesn’t require a top tier salary

Lol jacobs and what’s his name on the cowboys are not amongst the best players in the league period. They probably aren’t even top 50

Basically you get to retain a player for a year before they hit free agency if you pay them for top tier for their position. The issue is that position has depreciated over the years and the shelf life is very short. Most players are out of the league before their second contract (theoretically their biggest).
