I mean, get that bag king. I don't really care about baseball, but it's still crazy to me how much money baseball has vs actually good sports.

Sports would have similar totals if the way they built their contracts allowed for it. Many sports have caps on the size of contracts and the athlete has to make money elsewhere. Baseball has never had a cap iirc

It's not shohei's pitching arm that's worth 700m, it's the fact that Shohei is currently the God of Japan. They will interrupt the news to report that Shohei has hit another home run on TV over there. Angels stadium has ads for domestic Japanese cat food brands. the 700m is for buying a market of a hundred million shohei fanatics overseas.
