r/nfl reacts to the league postponing a playoff game due to a blizzard

The league postponed the Steelers at Bills game from tomorrow to Monday in the intrest of public safety, following New York's governor instituting a travel ban. 47 people died last winter in a blizzard in the Buffalo area.

So it should be easy to understand why 70,000 people driving to the stadium at the same time would have been catastrophic. But of course, that fact hasn't dawned on a large and loud minority of /r/nfl users.

For context, it's believed that this decision increases Buffalo's chances of winning because their offensive style is less compatible with snow and wind than Pittsburgh's is (and postponing the game means it will be played in relatively normal conditions instead of a blizzard).

Sorting this thread by controversial gets most of it:

Some highlights include users protesting the decision because of how it affects their bets on the game . . .

What bullshit is this. Are they refunding all the sports gambling? Fans were expecting a bad weather game.

This kills the under and the Steelers moneyline that looked way more interesting. It stinks that the governor can influence games. This spread is going to move.

This screws anyone that bet the Steelers moneyline or the under. FanDuel should have to refund all bets.

Users disappointed because they'll have to miss the first half hour of the game due to work . . .

So great. I'm not able to watch the game since I work 8-5. Excellent job NFL.

I'm sorry they didn't call you first.

Users seemingly hoping for a Union vs. Confederacy rematch:

Stop being a b-word . . . the way northerners talk I thought this would be a typical day for them

One user is having an existential crisis about the sport:

What happened to the game I love?

One user is particularly upset by the decision:

I hope they lose now, fricking soft butt baby city

Begging the government for help is way worse than Taylor Swift (???)

I was born in a blizzard, stop being a clown

So it's safer for 70,000 people to be driving drunk normally? People are going to die anyway, Buffalo is a city full of fricking cowards

One user has had enough:

Eat shit b-word boy

Most of the complainers are, unsurpirsingly, Steelers fans or fans of Buffalo's rivals (mainly Patriots and Dolphins).

The Steelers subreddit is also taking the news poorly: https://www.reddit.com/r/steelers/comments/195sm8u/game\_postponed\_until\_monday/?sort=controversial
