RDrama's official verdict on the ladies' free skate at the 2024 US Championships

Just watched the ladies' free skate at the 2024 US Championships. I'm noting down all my impressions here just so I can back it up if any of you strags say I don't know what I'm talking about.

  • Hilmer - good

  • Lin-Gracet - elegant, very promising for her age

  • Cowen - clean quad you can't get much better than that, let's see if she's still got it when she grows up

  • Andrews - really like her, a skater you want to see succeed, thought she had good choreography

  • Lee - understandably nervous, a 14yo should not be skating with adults, shouldn't be allowed

  • Shin - it wasn't her night, lots of mistakes

  • Everheart - good jumper, too conventional and bland for me

  • Josephine Lee - solid jumps she has a lot more to learn but plenty of time

  • Thorngren - I dunno, didn't resonate with me

  • Seo - liked her program but she seemed tired and struggling by the second half

  • Glenn - outstanding all the time except for those two jumping passes toward the end

  • Lovito - completely melted down in a shocking surprise, poor girl

We had some impressive skaters but mostly younger ones. Hopefully in a few years they'll be competitive if the Russians aren't allowed to start doping again.

As for this year, Loena Hendrickx is going to destroy everyone and the Koreans and Japanese are strong too. But maybe if Amber Glenn can skate clean then that beautiful triple axel will take her places too.

Update: Pairs Free

I love pairs. A man and a woman each using their best abilities to accomplish something together. Isn't that a lot of what life is about?

(And no that does not mean I support the communist abomination of ice dancing!) :marseyraging:

  • Misuvia?/Petro? - okay but I felt it was a little dull, I especially expect the pairs to show some padsion out there

  • Plazas/Fernandez - TOP FRICKING GUN OMG!!! this is what pairs is all about about, she was soaring like an F-14 at 40,000ft on those lifts, yeah they fricked up the solo jumps but I don't even care

  • McBeath/Parkman - nice but didn't stand out all that much, too bad about her blade issues

  • Kam/O'Shea - I like them but that poor girl made a lot of bug mistakes, I felt they were really into it despite that, her hair is reeeally cute on her and I love her so much

Hope to see our winners keep improving and compete at the Olympics. An American WMAF pair succeeding might cause Joshua Luna to have an aneurysm from pure cuck rage.

I liked when the guy did a roundhouse kick to the other guys neck causing him to bleed out

This is why you should pay attention to short track speed skating. Four people going like 40mph with razor sharp skates really close to each other's hands and they all hate each other and are trying to cheat.

The only figure skater worth knowing is Surya Bonaly. Couldn't care less about these cumskins and slant-eyes. :marseyno:

Omg I saw her at Champions on Ice back in like 2006. She was really good but I could never remember her name all this time. Thank you.

Star Andrews might be what you're looking for. I was really impressed with her.
