Sweden and Finland are always strong. Not sure what the situation for Russian players will be. Whether they won't be allowed to play or have to play for an unaffiliated team. Maybe some of the who aren't Putin peepee riders will try to qualify for other nation's teams.

Nah it's just sometimes NA is weak. Europeans have some good hockey for sure, especially the ruskies, but NA has always been the uncontested best region in hockey.

Idk the US has great players but they always seem to play way below their talent level and lose in sad fashion. Haven't won a top level men's tournament since 1996, and lost to the Latvians of all people in last year's world championship. How many Latvians even are there anyways?

The World Championships is a pretty terrible gauge. A lot of best players opt out of participation or are busy with the NHL playoffs. I could see the US potentially being the favorite going into the 2026 Olympics. Just think, they are gonna have all 3 Hughes brothers on the team.

The WCs aren't the best gauge sure but my point was the US hasn't won one since 1960 and was still losing to Latvia of all teams, they're like a 9th or 10th ranked squad. I agree that they'll be a powerhouse in 2026 most likely, best squad they've had in a while.
