The 2024 Paris Olympics haven't even started and we've had an Aussie tourist gang r*ped by 5 men in Paris, and 2 employees of an Aussie media conglomerate were assaulted.
While we can never know who would do such a thing in the most beautiful city on Earth, some chuds have come out of the woodwork to spread disinformation. Thankfully, the hard working jannies on our national subs have done their jobs and locked the threads:

It's fricking weird how Aussie media reports crimes against their travelers abroad. I don't hear about Americans abroad unless they basically get kidnapped by terrorists or put through kangaroo courts.

We're a smaller nation that can be a little sheltered being so far away from everyone. These stories are usually smaller footnotes but when tied to a big event, they get a longer lifespan in our media cycle

It comes across as provincial moral panic. "Better not leave Australia or something could happen to you." I don't see Canada covering their citizens' travel this way aside from anti-US stuff (which comes from a different source of cultural unease).
