Every cosmetic surgery carries the risk of infection, but BBLs are particularly notorious because of the nature of the procedure. The basic idea is that you're taking fat from the abdomen and back and injecting it into the butt and hips. The tricky part is that the fat needs to be precisely injected into the subcutaneous space between the skin and muscle; going too deep or slightly off course carries a significant risk. Part of that risk is that your two major gluteal arteries are near the injection sites for the butt. If these are mistakenly injected, then the fat travels to the heart and lungs which causes fat embolism and will quickly lead to cardiopulmonary collapse.
I've not seen any data on the fatalities associated with the procedure though, so I'm curious to see how much it correlates with bargain surgeons. With roughly a 1 in 3000 fatality rate, I suspect that the majority of deaths are related to people seeking cheaper surgeons who lack the proper expertise on such a risky surgery.

I agree, I think most of the deaths are caused by the fact that it’s a fad surgery that women want for social clout. If they can’t afford it in a good country they got to some 3rd world country and end up with a major complication.
