I was the first in my family to go to college and I teach at an Ivy League school.

Professor at an Ivy League school and still massively in debt? That seems weird, PhDs are free and actual professorships pay well. Let's investigate :marseydetective:

Molly graduated from Columbia University with an MFA in fiction. While there she taught undergraduate creative writing as a Teaching Fellow.

Related: I once went on a date with this chick who was very forward about her teaching at <very prestigious university>. Kept saying "I teach at <very prestigious university>." Turns out she was a student teacher at the nursery school for the professors' kids.

First of all, we need to remember that money is not the root of all evil. The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil (1 Timothy 6:10). And we know that God loves us and provides for us, even when it doesn't make sense to us (Proverbs 3:5-6).

So yes, it may seem weird that someone who has dedicated their life to learning and teaching is still in debt. But we need to remember that we are all fallen sinners in need of God's grace. And we also need to remember that God has a plan for each of us, even when we can't see it (Proverbs 16:9).

So let's not be quick to judge our brother or sister who is in debt. Instead, let's pray for them and offer them our support.

Yeah but that's for undergrad; a lot of masters programs are cash cows that capitalize on the school's name to extract money from rich Chinese and dumb Americans who want to accrue a ton of debt. Harvard is notorious for this.
