If you're bmi 25+ after 35 (wall for both moids and foids) you might as well give up because you ain't getting thinner for the rest of your life. It's like learning how to drive stick, have a good marriage etc.
You just don't have enough drive left in your brittle old bones anymore
When I first came to college I started losing around 1 to 2 lb a week, and I wasn't even that fat (around 160lbs maybe). Food here is shittier so I was eating less, and I was way more active because I walk all around campus. When I started HRT, the blood tests also revealed that I had high cholesterol (genetic predisposition), so I also cut out most sugary things. Sure enough my cholesterol fell to a more normal level, and it probably also helped with the weight loss.
6'1" going from 320 to 220 over 10 months would be feasible, especially if he was getting some extra exercise in. Intake of 2,200 kCals and an extra 200-300 burned would do it.

small things make a big impact but your average fatty likes comfort too much. Remove soda, candy and limit takeout to less than three times a week and pounds will shed quick.
If you're obese it is totally believable with diet and exercise. The base metabolism of a fatty is so high just to maintain that many fat cells, like if you weigh in the 300s it's 50-100% higher than someone at normal weight.
A typical 2000-2500 Cal diet without any activity changes is probably going to be enough to lose over 2 lbs a week without even working out if you're morbidly obese.
It kinda-sorta probably is, but your body will be sounding the alarm bells like fricking crazy. Low calorie, high protein diet with rigorous exercise and a well-maintained death wish, because after a little over 2 weeks and 5 kg lighter (11 pounds), every fiber of my body was screaming that I was killing myself. As far as I know, anything over ~0.5 kg (about a pound) a week is a very bad idea.
Maybe people have a higher tolerance for chronically feeling shitty than I do, but I can't keep an aggressive diet (2 pounds a week) going for more than six weeks before I give.
As soon as I settled for 1~1.5 and stopped going to bed hungry, I've been consistent since July (207->185, 5'10).
Good on you. I can't really do intense diets the older I get, but I definitely used to when I started getting close to overweight BMI. Nowadays I just accept teetering dangerously close to 25 BMI.
I think I'm like 26.5 BMI? The loss has definitely slowed now.
I was below 25 once in my life as a senior in college, eating human dog food, working out 5 days a week. I was giving my school's commencement and wanted to look hot up there, despite the fact that I'd be wearing a trashbag gown.
I wish I could find the motivation to do that again but I'll be happy if I can keep my current weight, and the slow diet approach has really morphed my palate to something actually healthy as a 30 something.
I lost 100 pounds in about 20 months. I don't know what it's like for everyone else but based on my experience 100 pounds in 10 months I'd believe is Ozempic.
@MarkRippetoe THINK 2.5 POUNDS A WEEK IS LIKE THE MAX YOU CAN CUT IF YOU'RE TRYING TOO LEAN OUT AND NOT LOSE MUSCLE SO IT LOOKS LIKE HE'S ACTUALLY PERFECT.
IF HE WAS LOSING LIKE 5-6 IBS A WEEK HE'S PROBABLY BURNING SOME MUSCLE

He must be taking Ozempic, there's no way to lose approx 2.5 lbs a week just by not stuffing you fat face with high calories shit all day!

Your master locking you in a room with no food and only goon videos for days at a time when you went to college probably also contributed.

Yeah, for someone who's it should be easy enough to lose that first 100, but to the it's a task beyond all comprehension.

It cratered my testosterone and got me injured. Not recommended.

I lost 96 pounds in a year, was literally at 1200 a day. Dunno how someone could lose 100 in 10 months unless he's super tall and fat

I went 235 to 195 over 5 months without a lot of effort, I can see someone motivated doing double that especially if they started heavier.
