Girls is unironically an amazing show.
It was really strange to find out lena wasnt a self aware, but closeted, misogynist.
It shits on female millenial archetypes in a pretty scathing way.
The main character literally ends up a single mother, to a mixed baby, teaching a shitty do nothing college course to young idiots whose values she now holds in contempt.
It is impossible to beleive she stumbled into that.

This is actually what put me off that show. I used to love it because I thought it was a closely observed hyper self-aware comedy making fun of a very particular subset of white urban millennial girls (so like, but the ones of me that I hate), but then one time I fell asleep watching it and woke up and the "Inside the Episode" B-roll BTS thing was autoplaying after the episode ended and... Lena Dunham has zero sense of irony. She's not winking or making fun of those characters, she is one of them.
I was shook. It was like discovering the tooth fairy is real, but she's a crazy crackhead b-word who sneaks into houses at night and rips children's teeth bloody from their sockets.

Wait, was Lena Dunham or any of the rest of those girls "happy" in that show? I feel like someone might not have watched it very carefully.

I couldn't even finish the show because of how depressing it was
