I gotta say, while the Reddit Adviceverse's insists that anything goes up until the moment the 2 people declare they are super-seriously-dating-for-realsies, that mentality is what leads to these situationships in the first place, where one or both parties will not actually commit to anything even if they want to move forward. They know that the other person could be seeing other people since there's no obligation not to, and to protect themselves they'll won't make the relationship more serious.
